Melanie Griffith Files For Divorce From Antonio Banderas

After 18 years of marriage, Melanie Griffith has filed for divorce from Antonio Banderas.

Griffith’s attorney – Laura Wasser – filed the divorce documents – obtained by Access Hollywood — on behalf of the actress on Friday in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The couple addressed their split on Friday, in a joint statement to Access, saying, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together”

Griffith, 56, and Banderas, 53, wed in 1996 after meeting on the set of the 1995 movie “Two Much.” They have one child together – daughter Stella, 17.

In her filing, Griffith is requesting spousal support, child support, as well as sole physical custody and joint legal custody of their daughter (who turns 18 in September).

No official date of separation was listed in the documents.

This was the fourth marriage for Griffith – she was previously married to Don Johnson (twice), and actor Steven Bauer.

Banderas was previously married to actress Ana Leza.

A solo Melanie hit the red carpet on Thursday night – with a ring still on her finger – at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute in Hollywood, where Jane Fonda was being honored.
