Melissa McCarthy Talks ‘Mike & Molly’ May Wedding, ‘Bridesmaids’ Sequel Rumors

A wedding is on the way for CBS’ “Mike & Molly” this May, show Creator Mark Roberts revealed on Wednesday, and Melissa McCarthy has some ideas about how she’d like to see her character walk down the aisle.

“I hope it’s like VFW-ish,” she told AccessHollywood.com on Monday, referring to a type of reasonably priced wedding hall. “I hope it’s like, in a hall. I think it should feel like Chicago, it should feel like most of my relative’s weddings.”

When it comes to a dress for Molly, Melissa, after her panel session for “Mike & Molly” at the Television Critics Association Winter Session in Pasadena, told Access she’d like that too to stay reasonable.

“I don’t think it should be designer, we try to always keep Molly at a price point that’s real,” she told Access. “My friend once got one from J Crew and it was the most beautiful thing in the word… I’m just [hoping to see] something realistic.”

Beyond talk of her hit CBS sitcom, Melissa suggested recent rumors that “Bridesmaids” could have a sequel focusing on her character wasn’t true – or a good idea.

“That seems like a terrible idea,” she said.

Addressing the rumor that some sort of “Bridesmaids” sequel is in the works – without star Kristen Wiig – Melissa said she personally was not aware of any discussions.

“I don’t know anything about it,” she told Access. “No one’s ever said anything. I would do anything with those ladies, if it’s a weird play in a back yard I would do it, but I don’t know anything about it, like we all had such a great time, like there’s no bad blood at all.”

“Mike & Molly” airs Mondays at 9:30/8:30c on CBS.
