As Michael Douglas continues his battle against throat cancer, his eight-week chemotherapy and radiation treatment program is about to come to an end, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
Douglas, who revealed the cancer diagnosis in August, has only one treatment left, his publicist, Alan Burry, told Access.
“He finishes his treatment today and has about six week of recuperation to get through,” Burry told Access on Thursday, adding the actor is remaining optimistic and is expecting a full recovery.
Although the treatments will have ended, the actor’s recovery is reportedly expected to take approximately another six weeks, Burry added to People magazine.. Following his final treatment, Douglas will then undergo periodic check-ups.
While the chemotherapy and radiation has taken its toll on the Oscar winner, it hasn’t prevented Douglas from getting out and about.
Late last month, he hit the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City for the premiere of his new film, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” and earlier this week, he was photographed walking his 7-year-old daughter, Carys, to school in NYC.
