Michael Jackson’s Posthumous Album Has Sold More Than 3M Units Worldwide In Its 1st Week Out

Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, but he’s being challenged by the current queens of music.

Taylor Swift’s album “Speak Now” is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, followed by Susan Boyle’s “The Gift.” Their albums got in the way of Jackson’s first posthumous album, “Michael,” hitting the top spot.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, “Speak Now” sold 259,000 units and “The Gift” 254,000 units. Jackson’s album debuted at No. 3 with 228,000 copies sold.

Though he’s not No. 1, Jackson’s album sold more than 3 million units worldwide. “Michael” debuted at No. 1 in Germany, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands. It also made its way to the Top 5 in the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Belgium and Denmark.
