Miley Cyrus Mania Storms The ‘Today’ Show

Miley Cyrus brought the mania along with thousands of fans to NBC’s “Today” show Friday morning.

The ‘tween sensation drew possibly one of the largest crowds ever for “Today’s” summer concert series in Rockefeller Plaza. Miley fans turned out in such huge numbers that 48th Street had to be shut down in order to accommodate the herds of young kids (and their parents) hoping to catch a glimpse of the Disney star perform.

Miley took to the stage launching into her hit, “See You Again,” thronged by a full dance crew and to the cheers and screams of her fans.

Next up, she treated the crowd to her new song, “7 Things,” as the crowd sang along with the ‘tween star.

Miley also gave fans a glimpse into her life with an interview backstage with “Today” show co-host David Gregory.

When it comes to the transition from her “Hannah Montana” persona into a pop star, Miley said the fans have been unwavering.

“It totally excites me that people are lining up just as they would for my character (“Hannah Montana”). Here, I don’t even have the support of my show or anything, it’s just the music. The kids get it, and understand me, and the love for the art it. It’s awesome! I’m so excited,” she said.

When asked what her favorite song was, Miley picked one of her own — “Bottom of the Ocean.”

As for her favorite concert that she’s been to, she picked a recent trip to see British rock group Coldplay in LA.

Miley couldn’t remember exactly who her first crush was, but thought it was a member of The Backstreet Boys or *NSYNC.

The ‘tween’s fondest memory was, “being on tour with my Dad when I was little.”

When the topic of boyfriends came up, Miley said she wants a good friend in her life before a boyfriend.

“Someone who is more than just a boyfriend… someone I can connect with as a friend, who I can get along with,” she said. “Especially being on the road, I just need someone I can call and talk to.”

And when it comes to what inspires the star, Miley pointed out the thousands of people in the crowd and said, “They do! They inspire me!”

Miley also performed her hits “Breakout” and the aforementioned “Bottom of the Ocean.”
