Miranda Lambert: Blake Shelton & I Are ‘Humbled’ By CMA Wins

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton continue to shine as country music’s power couple.

Both took home multiple awards at Thursday’s 2012 CMA Awards, including Song of the Year (which they won as a pair for writing the emotional tribute to Blake’s late brother and dad, “Over You”) – an honor which left Miranda nearly speechless.

“I’m a songwriter first and foremost and that’s so important to me,” Miranda, who broke down in tears onstage as Blake accepted the award for the deeply personal song, told Access Hollywood backstage at the awards in Nashville. “And winning it as a couple for something so special to us – for the loss of his brother and loss of his dad, we wrote it about that – we can’t believe it. We really can’t believe it.”

The “Fastest Girl in Town” singer and her hubby have temporarily left their Oklahoma home behind for Los Angeles while Blake films “The Voice,” but Miranda said she and Blake will always remain true to their country roots.

“We’re just humbled and we’re down to earth and we’re so thankful for these [awards],” she told Access. “There’s so many talented people in country music and country music is a community, and we’re glad to be part of it.”
