Miranda Lambert On Her 9 CMA Noms, Facing Off Against Husband Blake Shelton

The CMAs are just around the corner and Miranda Lambert is up for nine awards come Wednesday night.

Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez caught up with the country superstar, where Miranda weighed in on what is likely to be a very big night for the singer.

“I didn’t even realize I would be able to be nominated for that many things honestly,” Miranda told Liz in Nashville on Monday, at the Pedigree Adoption Suite to help support the adoption of shelter dogs.

“I felt like I needed to sit back and like look at my year and go, ‘What have I done to deserve this?'” she continued. “And I just was sort of realizing that you know it’s incredible. I mean, I love this – I love my job, I love the music business and all my friends that I’ve met over the years.”

Miranda is up against husband Blake Shelton for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, but said the competition isn’t an issue at home.

“Ya know, we haven’t even talked about it at all,” she said. “He’s been filming and I haven’t seen him in like 10 days. So everyone’s like, ‘Have y’all talked about the show?’ And actually no, we haven’t even mentioned it!

“It’s like, ‘Hey, how are the dogs doing? What’s your day [like[?’ We’re just very normal,” she continued. “We don’t bring work home a lot.”

But one thing the singing superstar does bring home – rescue puppies! Miranda and Pedigree have teamed up to help shelter pets get adopted – a cause near to the singer’s heart.

“I have seven rescue dogs, so I’m a little excessive, but what I love the most is that they just love you for who you are,” Miranda said.

And while she’s all about the pups, she’s also excited to perform “All About That Bass” with Meghan Trainor at the CMAs.

“We listened to that song on the road no less than a thousand times like our whole tour. It was like our tour song,” she said. “And so ‘All About That Bass’ was just what brought all our band and crew together… I know it so well, we love the song, when she asked if I would do it I was like sure.”

Adding, “And it’s such a positive message for women and body image, which is kind of what I’m about too.”

The CMAs air live on Wednesday at 8/7c on ABC.
