Mitt Romney To Jay Leno: I’ll Choose David Letterman As A Running Mate

Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney made a campaign stop at “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Tuesday where he joked that another late night host could be his running mate.

When asked by Leno about who he plans to pick as his Vice Presidential running mate, should he secure the Republican nomination, former Governor Romney suggested he could get Leno’s late night competitor out of the game, by choosing him for the potential VP post.

“I’ll tell you what… I can do you a favor with this,” Romney began. “I’ll choose David Letterman.

“We can help us both in that,” the Presidential hopeful added.

While a Romney-Letterman ticket isn’t a serious suggestion, Leno did get Romney to share his opinion about Rick Santorum, who he has been facing off with in the primaries.

“Rick Santorum is a good guy,” the former Massachusetts Governor said. “We have some differences in background, and differences on some issues, but [he’s] basically a good guy. And, you know, I’m happy with him saying that he would be like to be part of an administration with me. Nothing wrong with that. If he’s the VP, that’s better.

“I’d rather be the President and let him be the Vice President,” Romney added.

The full interview with Mitt Romney airs Tuesday, March 27 at 11:35 PM ET/PT on NBC.
