‘Modern Family’s’ Sarah Hyland ‘Won’t Apologize’ For Mocking Lea Michele, But Admits ‘Glee’ Star Has A ‘Great’ Backside

“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland aroused the wrath of Gleeks yesterday after mocking “Glee” star Lea Michele’s red carpet posing style on Friday’s “Fashion Police” on E!.

Now, the 21–year-old actress has taken to Twitter to clarify her comments.

“People have they’re [sic] opinions,” Sarah Tweeted on Saturday. “People also think I don’t know Lea. But I met her 6 years ago n NYC when I was 15 yrs old.

“I did not intend for my comments to be taken in a malicious way,” she continued in another Tweet. “But I did hate the dress. Called her ass great. Did u all hear that one?”

The outspoken ingenue was also quick to squelch accusations of envy, Tweeting, “In no way am I jealous of Lea Michelle. I’m happy with my own life and am not jealous of anyone elses n the world.”

Sarah ended her rant with a compliment of sorts, congratulating Lea on her red carpet confidence.

“Congrats Lea. U know how to work the red carpet. I can’t take it as seriously as you. .. I can’t take myself that seriously. I don’t like the red carpet. I feel silly,” she wrote. “So props to her for knowing what she’s doing and enjoying it.”

Adding, “But I won’t apologize. I’m an outspoken person. I own what I said about that outfit. And I mimicked what I saw with my own two eyes.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Sarah was asked about Lea’s style of red carpet posing and the small screen star offered up her take.

“It’s like a slow-motion picture kind of thing. It’s just like, she puts her hands on her hips like this and sticks out her collarbone – I don’t know if you can see – she sticks out her collarbone to make her look skinnier and she goes [pouts lips] sticks out her lips,” she said during an appearance on “Fashion Police” on Friday.

And Sarah didn’t stop with just an impression of Lea, adding, “It’s very strange, it’s very strange. I actually saw a clip of her doing that on the red carpet and you see me in the background, like with my back turned looking at my publicist, being like, ‘I don’t know what to do right now. Like this is very awkward for me, I’ve never seen anything like this before in my life.’”

The claw-barring comments should make for an interesting weekend, as both stars are expected to appear on the red carpet at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.
