Rick Grimes’ meeting with The Governor helped propel “The Walking Dead” to some stellar ratings over the weekend, making it the most-watched drama on television on Sunday night.
The AMC drama brought in 11.5 million total viewers to see Andrew Lincoln’s character face-off against the show’s villain, played by his real life pal, David Morrissey (who Andrew actually recommended for the role).
By contrast, History’s “The Bible” attracted 10.8 million total viewers to its two-hour broadcast (8-10 PM), landing it in the second spot overall.
Among the coveted 18-49 adults demo, the one that appeals most to advertisers, “The Walking Dead” brought in 7.2 million adults. (“The Bible” had 3.2).
In last week’s episode of the zombie apocalypse drama, Rick and The Governor met up at a neutral location to discuss the future. Andrea, Martinez and Milton waited outside for The Governor, while Rick’s people – Daryl Dixon and Hershel Greene, waited too, for their leader.
During the meet-up, The Governor insisted he was there for nothing other than for Rick’s gang to surrender. The meeting ended, however, with Phillip (The Gov’s first name) asking Rick to hand over Michonne (Danai Gurira).
