‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Star Slams Sequel Plans

Ready for Robin Williams to do older Scottish lady drag again?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to the 1993 Golden Globe-winning movie is in the works with Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus attached.

The movie, about a man posing as an elderly Scottish woman working as a nanny in order to see his three children he shares with his ex-wife, became a box office success and took home two Golden Globes. But not everyone originally involved in the first movie is onboard with the idea.

Mara Wilson, who played Robin’s youngest daughter in the movie, took to Twitter slamming the idea.

“For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I,” she wrote.

Adding in a series of Tweets, “I’ve been in some mediocre movies, but I’ve never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now… Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end. I’m glad I had the chance to be in it, and I’m proud of what we did, but I don’t see how we could do it again… There are many, many reasons I don’t want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven’t even asked me (yet), so no need to worry.”

A release date for the planned “Mrs. Doubtfire” sequel has yet to be announced.
