MTV Movie Awards Honors Adam Sandler With Generation Award

The “2008 MTV Movie Awards” pays tribute to Adam Sandler with the “MTV Generation Award” for his contribution to Hollywood and for entertaining the MTV audience for years.

From generation to generation, Adam Sandler has kept fans crying with laughter since bursting onto the scene in MTV’s “Remote Control” then onto “SNL” and his early film roles and cult classics such as Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy and now You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, in theaters June 6. The “MTV Generation Award” is the MTV Movie Awards’ highest honor, acknowledging an actor who has captured the attention of the MTV audience throughout their career. Past recipients include Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey.

Hosted by Mike Myers, the “2008 MTV Movie Awards” airs live on June 1 at 8 p.m. from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.

“A 30-something waterboy, a broken-hearted 80s wedding singer and a rejected hockey player turned pro golfer… now that’s an impressive resume,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music, Logo and Films Group. “On Sunday our audience will present Adam with the MTV Generation Award for all the years he has captured, entertained and made us laugh our heads off.”
