‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Sequel: Nia Vardalos Wants The Entire Cast To Return

The most successful romantic comedy ever, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding’,” is getting a sequel – 12 years later!

Star and writer of the 2002 sleeper hit Nia Vardalos confirmed the news that a second helping of “MBFGW” is coming.

“I’m working on the MBFGWedding sequel; now that I’m experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter,” she wrote on Twitter.

And she’s looking forward to reuniting with her onscreen husband John Corbett.

“A few jaded press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true,” she continued.

The follow-up film will reportedly center on a family secret reveal and another wedding that brings the boisterous Greek clan together again, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first film, based on a one-woman play Nia wrote, went on to earn $241 million at the domestic box office and scored Nia an Oscar nomination for the screenplay. The movie also spawned a TV series, “My Big Fat Greek Life,” which lasted just one season.

In addition to Nia and John reprising their roles, it appears everyone from the first film – which also included *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone – could return.

“#MyBigFatGreekWedding2, thank you for the love, yes the entire big fat family is invited back for the sequel,” Nia wrote in another Tweet.
