NBC Picks Up Comedy Starring Olivia Munn, Christine Woods

NBC has picked up another comedy for the 2010-11 primetime season – this one starring Olivia Munn and Christine Woods (who plays “FlashForward’s” Janis Hawk).

The network announced on Wednesday that it has green-lit romantic comedy “Perfect Couples,” which also stars Lauren Conrad’s beau, Kyle Howard.

Christine has made an impression playing lesbian agent Janis Hawk on ABC’s “FlashForward,” but in “Perfect Couples,” she’ll be taking on a more domestic role. Kyle’s character, Dave, will be trying to balance his marriage to Christine’s character, Julia, with keeping his best friend, Vance, played by Dave Walton, happy.

Vance, too, is half of one of the show’s “Perfect Couples,” paired up with a neurotic partner, Amy, played by “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Mary Elizabeth Ellis.

The third couple in the series will be played by recent Maxim Hot 100 girl Olivia (she’s No. 8 on the mag’s list), who stars as Leigh, alongside Hayes MacArthur from “She’s Out Of My League,” who plays Rex. Olivia will play a “mother hen”-style character.

The new comedy will be executive produced by Jon Pollack (“30 Rock”) and Scott Silveri (“Friends”).

In related NBC news, Deadline reported that the network has chosen to axe the pilot “Beach Lane,” which was to star Matthew Broderick.

Additionally, New York magazine’s Vulture blog reported that NBC is “likely” to be cancelling “Heroes.”
