R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo scores his second # 1 debut on the Bilboard 200 album chart this week, with 251,264 copies sold of his sophomore effort, “Because of You.” Ne-Yo also has this week’s fastest-growing digital download with the title track, coming in at # 2 on the Hot Downloaded Singles chart.
Michael Buble makes a strong debut as well, as the jazz crooner’s “Call Me Irresponsible” enters the chart at # 2 with 212,070 copies sold.
Canadian rock band Rush proves they have staying power, as their new album “Snakes & Arrows” debuts at # 3 following a five-year absence.
Avril Lavigne’s “The Best Damn Thing” drops to # 4 this week, after spending two weeks in the top spot.
Tori Amos debuts at # 5 with her ninth studio album, “American Doll Posse,” a conceptual work on which she sings from the perspective of five different women.
Young country star Miranda Lambert arrives on the Billboard 200 chart at # 6 with her 2nd album, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” and also debuts at # 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
Daughtry spends their 24th week on the chart coming in at # 7, and country singer Blake Shelton debuts at # 8 with “Pure BS.”
The NOW 24 compilation and Carrie Underwood’s “Some Hearts” round out the Top 10.
Maroon 5 continues to dominate the Hot Downloaded Singles chart for the 2nd week with their latest song, “Makes Me Wonder.” The song is the first single from their upcoming album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,” which arrives in stores on May 22.
Next week offers many new releases, including the latest from Linkin Park, Wilco, Rufus Wainwright, Megadeth, Gretchen Wilson, and former Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan.
