Ever wonder where Minions came from? Now we know.
Universal has released the new trailer for “Minions,” the origin story for the animated breakout stars of “Despicable Me.”
“They’ve been on this planet far longer than we have. They’re all different, but they all share the same goal – to find the biggest, baddest villain to serve,” a narrator explains.
Long before pledging their allegiance to Gru, from a T-Rex to a caveman to a grizzly bear to Napoleon to Dracula – the mischievous little yellow fellows served many a bad guy throughout history, though keeping their leader alive wasn’t always so easy.
Fast forward to 42 years B.G. (Before Gru) and we meet supervillain Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock), who wants the minions’ help in pulling off a truly royal heist – stealing Queen Elizabeth’s crown.
