Nick Cannon sent gossip blogs into a tizzy over the weekend when he Tweeted he wasn’t able to spend the full afternoon at the Reality Rocks Expo in Los Angeles on Saturday because he had to be by pregnant wife, Mariah Carey’s side.
“I was only there for a minute ‘cause I have to rush to my wife,” Nick Tweeted on Saturday night.
Access Hollywood did manage to catch up with Nick during his brief time at the Reality Rocks event, where he was promoting his upcoming MTV series, “Son of A Gun,” (which he executive produced and stars in alongside hip hop legend Peter Gunz and rapper Cory Gunz), and the daddy-to-be said his wife was doing, “wonderful.”
Nick added that his twins, a boy and a girl, are due imminently.
“Yeah, soon, very soon,” the excited papa-to-be said. “Any day now.”
Nick’s new show, “Son of A Gun,” follows Cory as he tries to restart his rap career, with the help of his famous father, whose own group — Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz — worked with Mariah on her hit, “My All.”
Cory already has twin daughters, but Nick revealed the two didn’t discuss baby advice when filming the six-part MTV series, which premieres on April 28.
“Not really ‘cause when we were doing the show it wasn’t really, you know, I had no idea at that time,” Nick said.
Still, Nick is open to hearing Cory’s thoughts on the raising of twins.
“Yeah, he could give me advice,” Nick added.
As for Cory, Nick said he wanted to bring the young man’s story to television because it’s something people haven’t seen before on reality TV.
“It’s a story that needs to be told. We don’t get to see a lot of father and son stories told on television, especially in hip hop,” Nick said of the Gunz family. “It’s a strong story; it’s a coming of age story; it’s a beautiful story.”
And there’s drama too. In a clip of the show, released by MTV, which Nick Tweeted on Friday, a manager is caught on camera admitting he is so angry with Nick, he wants to throw him out the window. Click HERE to see the trailer.
“That’s crazy, right? That’s kind of violent. I’m not a violent guy,” Nick said.
Nick added of a potential on-screen altercation between himself and the manger, “you gotta watch the show. It gets intense.”
“Son of a Gun,” premieres on MTV on April 28 at 11/10 PM C.
