Nicole Richie Requests To Serve Time At Same Jail As Paris

Nicole Richie is set to follow in the footsteps of bff Paris Hilton, by enduring her hard time at the same jail the heiress did hers.

Richie has requested to go to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood California according to several reports. The facility housed Paris during her jail stays earlier this summer.

“Nicole Richie’s attorney has indicated that she wants to do her time in county jail,” LA County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told US Weekly. “Lynwood is the only county jail for women in Los Angeles, so if she does go to county jail she will go to Lynwood.”

Richie plead guilty on Friday, July 27 to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to four days in jail by a judge who said she was lucky nobody was killed when she drove the wrong way on a freeway. She was also given three years probation, fined $2,048 and ordered to enroll in a drug & alcohol program.

The judge ordered her to 96 hours in custody, however she was given credit for six hours, most likely from the time she spent in jail on the night of her arrest in December. She will need to serve the remaining 90 hours.

In court, Commissioner Steven K. Lubell warned the subdued Richie that she would go to jail for a year if she violates her probation.

“You are not to drive with any measurable amount of alcohol or drugs in your system,” Lubell told her. “You are not to drive without a driver’s license.”

Meanwhile, in related news, Nicole’s father, pop crooner Lionel Richie told US he was pleased by Nicole’s legal move. “My daughter has made some mistakes in her life and has accepted responsibility for her actions,” he said. “She has not blamed others for her problems and is growing up very quickly, albeit in the heat of the media spotlight.”

Lionel added that Nicole’s current condition – she’s four months pregnant, has helped her face the consequences. “Her pregnancy has given her a new perspective on life in general,” he added.
