Nigel Lythgoe: Ellen DeGeneres Is Welcome Back On ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

Ellen DeGeneres may have left “American Idol,” but if she wants, there is always a place for her at another FOX reality show – “So You Think You Can Dance.”

“That’s where Ellen started. She loved ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’” SYTYCD Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman on Thursday, recalling Ellen’s first judging experience.

Nigel said that if Ellen wanted to spend some time on his panel, commenting on the on stage moves of the contestants, he would gladly have her.

“We [would] welcome her back,” he said.

In related “Idol” news, reports have surfaced that Nigel is going to head back to the FOX reality signing competition as Executive Producer, a job he vacated two season ago, but he didn’t want to confirm the details just yet.

“Now why don’t you want to talk about ‘Idol’? Just because you think it will overshadow everything else?” Laura asked.

“Yeah, because I want to talk about what’s relevant to me now. I mean ‘Idol’ is next year. We’ve got so much happening at this moment in time that I can’t be everywhere,” he said.

Nigel added that he has very fond feelings for the show.

“Listen, I miss it. That was eight years of my life,” he said. “They’re family to me, absolutely, family.”
