Nikki Blonsky’s ‘Hairspray’ Co-Star: ‘I Know She Didn’t Mean To Hurt Anybody

Following the bizarre news that “Hairspray” star Nikki Blonsky and her father, Carl, were arrested Wednesday after getting into a brawl with “Americas Next Top Model” Cycle 9 contestant Bianca Golden at Providenciales International Airport in Turks and Caicos, her musical co-star is coming to the actress’ defense.

“Nikki is one of my really dear friends, and she’s not a person that I would ever expect to have that controversy … surrounding her,” fellow “Hairspray” star Brittany Snow told People Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

“But at the same time, you know things get misconstrued in this business,” she told the mag. “I really hope the best for her, because … she’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met, so I just hope it works out – and it will, because she’s a good person, and good things happen to good people.”

Brittany had yet to talk to Nikki following the brawl, but another “Hairspray” alum had.

“Zac [Efron] talked to her for a while,” Brittany told the mag.

Though Brittany is bewildered about how the fight happened, she says Nikki’s intention could not have been to harm anyone involved.

“I don’t know how it happened or what exactly went on, but my heart goes out to her, because I really do love her,” she said. “I know she didn’t mean to hurt anybody – and nor did her dad. Her family is amazing!”
