No Doubt Heads Back To The Studio

No Doubt is back together and in the studio.

Gwen Stefani confirmed she is spending time with the compadres of her youth – guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young — in a posting on her band’s Web site earlier this week.

“Been thinking so much about you all lately as I am back in the studio again with the boys trying to write some new music,” the pregnant frontwoman blogged.

In 2006, Kanal told fans the band was writing again, but plans were shelved when Stefani decided to release a second solo album, “The Sweet Escape,” the follow up to her 2004 platinum smash, “Love.Angel.Music.Baby.”

However, now it appears her solo days are on the back burner, Gwen blogged.

“What an amazing few years it has been. So inspired going through the dance record phase of my life. Thank you so much for all your support,” Stefani wrote. “The tour was incredible. We ended up doing over 100 shows around the world and it was so rewarding and again inspiring.”

No Doubt recorded five albums, including their breakthrough smash, “Tragic Kingdom,” which spawned the hits “Don’t Speak,” and “I’m Just A Girl.”

The band released its last album, “Rock Steady,” in 2001.

Seven years later, being back in the studio has been a wondrous homecoming, Stefani noted.

“[It’s] great to be home with all my boys,” she wrote. “We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have so much fun together.”

In addition to publicly acknowledging her pregnancy for the first time, via the blog, Gwen said her son Kingston’s new brother or sister may be playing a role in the new record.

“The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part,” she said. “I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I’m sure it is all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far. Can’t wait to see what happens.”
