No Fooling This Time: ‘Punk’d’ Coming To An End

LOS ANGELES (March 27, 2007) ? Ashton Kutcher’s popular prank show, “Punk’d,” is coming to an end after eight seasons on MTV.

No, really. They are.

Among those who have fallen victim to the popular prank show over the years are the likes of Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, NBA star Carmelo Anthony, Andre 3000 and Big Boi from OutKast, The Rock, Beyonce and Kanye West.

The final season premieres April 10, but all eight new episodes will air back-to-back during a “sneak peek marathon” April 7, Viacom Inc.’s MTV announced Monday.

Hilary Swank, former NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Nelly Furtado and Jewel fall victim to Kutcher’s capers this time around.

In addition, Ashton will host a special “Punk’d Awards” on June 5.

In December 2003, Kutcher said he was the pulling the plug on the show. Speculation arose that the announcement was a trick aimed at duping new celebrity prank victims into complacency.

Indeed it was as “Punk’d” returned in April 2004.

But even as “Punk’d” pulls the plug on the pranks, Ashton will still be a busy man.

He is currently producing two pilots — a sitcom for ABC called “Miss/Guided” and the Three 6 Mafia reality series for MTV called “Adventures in Hollywood”.

He also has a new prank show for NBC called “The Real Wedding Crashers,” where the bride and groom team up to goof on their unsuspecting guests. It is set to debut sometime in April on NBC.
