Nominees Prepare For Sunday Night’s Tony Awards

NEW YORK, New York (June 10, 2007) — It’s time again for a little more razzle-dazzle on Broadway. The Tony Awards are being handed out tonight.

Many of the nominees already are Tony winners, including Christopher Plummer, who’s up for best lead actor in a play for “Inherit the Wind.”

Plummer claims he’d be happy if nobody’s name were called tonight. He wishes the awards stopped at the nominations because, as he puts it, “We all deal in different subjects. We can’t be compared.”

Four-time winner Audra McDonald likes to think of the night as a big Broadway “love-fest.” She’s nominated for leading actress in a musical for “110 in the Shade.”

The 61st Tony Awards will be broadcast live from the Radio City Music Hall tonight on CBS.
