Norman Reedus Talks Locations, Guests For ‘Ride With Norman Reedus’

Norman Reedus’ new series, “Ride with Norman Reedus,” continues Sunday night with its second episode, which follows the actor on a trek to Las Vegas and Death Valley.

The unscripted show follows Reedus as he explores various parts of America by motorcycle with friends old and new, and the actor was very involved in helping select locations for each episode.

“I got to [pick locations] and a lot were thought of beforehand and I checked the ones that sounded cool and stuff like that, but we also shot in the winter, in between shooting ‘The Walking Dead,’ so we had to go to places [that are] warm, which is Texas and Florida and California and Vegas and all that stuff,” he told Access Hollywood in a recent interview. “There’s a ton of places around the United States I would’ve liked to go [to], but it’s only six episodes and it’s winter, you know what I mean? So we hope to hit other places in the United States and we could do 500 episodes just in America and never see everything. It’s so big here and so much to look at. And saying that, I’d like to also go to Europe and Asia and Vietnam and all sorts of places.”

Reedus also had a hand in picking music for the show too, which has a rock ‘n’ roll feel.

“They put an edit together and sometimes there’s music I haven’t heard before, but I like what they picked, but then there’s others – like The Well is a band I knew already and looked them up, and then became friends with the record label and then got hooked up to other bands. But that’s actually a band that I heard and went after and then we got them to do our opening theme song, so I was pretty involved,” he said.

Sunday’s new episode will follow Reedus and fellow actor Balthazar Getty on a ride to Las Vegas and Death Valley, while future episodes will feature “Easy Rider” star Peter Fonda and Mastodon’s Brent Hinds.

“Nobody said no,” Norman said when Access Hollywood asked if anyone declined to join him for the series. “And a lot of people said yes. I mean, the long list of people that wanted to do it, you know, we’d still be shooting.”

Asked how he narrowed down the field, the actor first pointed to scheduling.

“Well, it has to do with schedules and it has to do with their history in those locations. Like Peter Fonda used to live in the Keys for a long time so he was a natural pick for the Florida episode and then I got to see the Keys through the eyes of Peter Fonda,” he said.
