NYC Green Auction Raises Money For Four Environmental Groups; Online Auction Continues With Chance To Meet Lady Gaga

A New York City benefit auction raised $1.4 million for four environmental groups, including the Central Park Conservancy.

Christie’s “The Green Auction: A Bid to Save the Earth” also will benefit Conservation International, Oceana, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Among the celebrities attending the event last week were Salma Hayek, Ted Danson, Gayle King, Anna Wintour, Diane Kruger, Zoe Kravitz, Olivia Palermo and Sam Waterston. Rapper Nicki Minaj performed and “Saturday Night Live’s” Seth Meyers hosted.

One of the top lots — a chance to spend a day with former President Bill Clinton — fetched $100,000.

Christie’s says a companion silent online auction will run through April 7 on www.ABidtoSavetheEarth.org. Bidders can hope to take a tennis lesson with John McEnroe or fly to Miami to meet Lady Gaga.
