Oh, Behave! Could ‘Austin Powers 4’ Be In The Works?

Mike Myers is a busy man. On top of “Shrek the Third” opening next weekend, he has nine other films in development — including new reports of a possible fourth installment of his “Austin Powers” fan-favorite franchise.

Myers reportedly told Sci Fi Wire that he definitely wants to make another “Austin Powers” movie, and said he will get to it after he finishes his next project, “The Love Guru.”

Myers teased the plot idea that’s been floating around in his head.

“I have figured out that the story will be taken from the point of Doctor Evil,” he said, referring to Austin Powers’ bald arch-nemesis (whom Myers also portrays in the films). “It will be powered from Doctor Evil’s point of view.”

Myers’ publicist tells Access that the “Austin Powers 4” idea is just that — an idea. While that doesn’t mean it won’t happen, there’s nothing definite in the works at this time.

Besides, as Myers himself told Sci Fi Wire, “It takes three and a half to four years for me to do a movie, and it has to be something I’m feeling passionate about at the time.”

Myers reportedly added: “That will be the first of a trilogy. … I’m just joking! … I haven’t figured it all out. Who knows?”

What is known at the moment is that Myers is in pre-production on “The Love Guru,” a comedy he co-wrote about a man named ‘Pitka’ — who Myers says is a Canadian raised in India who becomes a guru and helps the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup.

Also on deck for Myers is a biopic of The Who’s legendary drummer Keith Moon, whose innovative drumming and penchant for destroying his drum kit made the band one of the most influential, rebellious bands of the 1970s. Currently titled “See Me Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked for Your Pleasure,” Myers will be taking on the role of Moon, who tragically died from an overdose of prescription medication meant to help wean him off of alcohol.

This would not be the first time Myers has portrayed a real-life personality. Though known primarily for his comedic roles, Myers proved his dramatic mettle in the 1998 film “54,” portraying the troubled Steve Rubell, owner of the famous ‘70’s disco club “Studio 54,” to chilling effect.

With two other projects lined up following “Shrek The Third,” there’s no telling when another sequel to “Austin Powers” will actually see the light of day.

We can dream, though, can’t we?
