On The Download: Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull, ‘On The Floor’

Jennifer Lopez is busy judging hopefuls on “American Idol” these days, but she’s proving she’s still a pop music diva icon, releasing her highly anticipated new single “On the Floor” the same week as “Idol’s” premiere.

Reclaiming her famous moniker, “J.Lo,” Lopez’s new club-thumping single is sure to burn up dance floors across the globe. In fact, she even calls out “Brazil, Morocco, London to Ibiza/Straight to LA, New York/Vegas to Africa.” The techo-synth elements make it the ultimate track for DJs to remix over and over again (Yes, please!).

“On the Floor” reunites Jenny from the Block with hit-making rapper Pitbull, who previously collaborated with her on 2009’s “Fresh Out the Oven.” Lopez enlisted dance-pop ‘it’ producer RedOne (Lady Gaga) to take the track into the electro-sphere of music. The result is J.Lo’s best body-shaker since 2000’s “Waiting for Tonight,” and it’s one of the catchiest tracks to drop in a while… period. When she chants the chorus, “Tonight We Gon’ Be it on the Floor Lalalalalalalalalalalalalala,” how can you resist not singing along?

While “On the Floor” has an unmistakable Euro-pop-feel to it, Lopez spices up the track with a Latin flare, thanks to the sampling of “Lambada,” the 1989 dance smash by group Kaoma.

If this is what’s to come from Jennifer Lopez’s long-delayed seventh album, reportedly called “Love?”, it will have definitely all been well worth the wait!
