‘Once Upon A Time’ Producers Promise LGBT Relationship In Season 5

Mulan and Aurora shippers, you may be getting your “Once Upon a Time” wish in Season 5.

Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have revealed they will finally explore an LGBT relationship in the upcoming season.

With Jamie Chung’s Mulan returning to the show, Entertainment Weekly asked the “OUAT” bosses about a possible romance between her and Sarah Bolger’s Aurora.

“We know that community have been big supporters of the show and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that,” Edward answered.

“We want the show to reflect the world as it is now,” Adam added.

While the obvious relationship to explore would be Aurora and Mulan, Adam said, “Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say.”

Added Edward, “But it is something that we’re going to do this year.”

The producers said incorporating an LGBT love story makes sense now more than ever.

“It’s something we think is due and important to do on the show. This is the world we live in,” Adam said.

The EP previously announced on Twitter that Mulan’s return to “OUAT” will span both halves of the upcoming season. Whether it’s her and Aurora, or two new characters, this will be the first LGBT relationship shown on the ABC series.

“Once Upon a Time” premieres on September 27 at 8/7c on ABC.
