Oscar Nominees Reveal How They Found Out About Noms

Some of Hollywood’s favorite leading men and women woke to amazing Oscar nomination news on Thursday and Access Hollywood has the details on where the stars were when they got the golden call.

Here’s what some of the Oscar nominated stars told Access later on Thursday at the Critics’ Choice Awards:

Leonardo DiCaprio, nominated for Best Actor, “Wolf of Wall Street”: “I spent my day sleeping. I kind of just woke up to be honest. I got up at 5:00 in the morning and I got the phone call. It was amazing. It was shocking in a lot of ways, but it feels really great to have been a part of a project for such a long period of time. This really took seven years to put up on screen… it has to do with the darker nature of who we all are and it’s a risky, bold film, so I feel very appreciative that the film was honored in this capacity.”

Meryl Streep, nominated for Best Actress, “August: Osage County”: “[I was] in bed because I didn’t think I had a chance, so I didn’t pay attention. I didn’t wake up early or anything, but when I turned my phone on, all the messages came up.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor, nominated for Best Actor, “12 Years a Slave”: “I was where I normally am at five o’clock in the morning… at home in bed, but then I got up and looked at the live feed that was coming out at about 5:30, so it was really an incredible morning.”

Lupita Nyong’o, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, “12 Years a Slave”: “It’s very exciting. It’s very overwhelming… I’m not sure what’s real and what’s not. But I’m very happy for the film, that we’ve gotten this kind of reception by the Academy.”
