‘Outlander’: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan & Graham McTavish Preview Wedding Episode

Let the countdown begin. Next Saturday night, “Outlander” fans will be tuning in for what is expected to be one of the TV weddings of year.

“We’re very excited for people to see the wedding episode,” Caitriona Balfe, who plays “Outlander” heroine Claire, told Access Hollywood. “I think it’s gonna live up to people’s expectations.”

While she may be married in 1945, back in 1743 (nearly 200 years before the birth of her husband, Frank), Claire is in big trouble. As an English woman, Tobias Menzies’ Captain Jonathan Wolverton Randall can demand she appear before him, but if she turns Scot through a walk down the aisle with Sam Heughan’s Jamie Fraser, Black Jack’s power over her wanes.

“This is Dougal’s plan to save Claire from having to go back into the hands of Black Jack, and you know, the very gallant James Fraser offers to marry her,” Caitriona said.

“For the greater good,” Sam Heughan chimed in when Access spoke to the two actors in New York.

And Graham McTavish, whose character, Dougal MacKenzie, came up with the plan for the event, promised fashion to-die-for when Claire begins her bridal march.

“When they see the wedding dress there are gonna be people who are going to be wanting that dress,” he said. “It is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. And, in the same way that so many of the other scenes are so beautifully lit with the ambient light, this is a real icing on the cake.”

“Outlander” Episode 7 airs Saturday, September 20 at 9 PM on Starz.
