‘Outlander’ Casts ‘Harry Potter’ Alum As Mother Hildegarde

A “Harry Potter” headmistress is coming to “Outlander” to play a nun.

Frances de la Tour will play Mother Hildegarde in Season 2 of the Starz and Sony Pictures Television series.

Mother Hildegarde runs L’Hopital Des Anges, where Claire (Caitriona Balfe) begins volunteering. She’s tall, gaunt and has a “deep and powerful voice,” per the character description.

She’ll help out Claire in many, many (translation: spoilers!) ways in Season 2.

Executive Producer Maril Davis revealed Mother Hildegarde’s sidekick earlier this year – the dog Bouton.

On “Outlander,” Frances joins a cast including Laurence Dobiesz, who is playing Alex Randall, Andrew Gower, who is playing Bonnie Prince Charlie, Romann Berrux who is taking on Fergus/Claudel, Dominique Pinon as Master Raymond, Claire Sermonne as Madame Louise Marquise de Rohan, Rosie Day, who is playing Mary, Robert Cavanah as Jamie Fraser’s uncle, Jared Fraser, and Stanley Weber, who is playing Comte St. Germain.
