Outlander: Production Kicks Off On Starz Series

Production has officially begun on Starz and Sony Picture Television’s new original series “Outlander.”

The show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s international bestselling novels, is being filmed on location in Scotland.

“Day One and the battle is joined,” Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore said in a statement. “We fight to do justice to the material and the fans. We’ll return with our targes or on them.”

The “Outlander” cast includes Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, “Game of Thrones” star Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall/Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie, Gary Lewis as Colum MacKenzie, Duncan Lacroix as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Annette Badland as Mrs. Fitzgibbons and Stephen Walters as Angus Mhor.

“Outlander” will premiere on Starz in 2014.
