Paris Hilton Prepares For The Kentucky Derby

Paris Hilton plans to hit the Kentucky Derby for the first time ever this weekend – with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt — and she plans to make an entrance brimming with style.

“I think for [the] Kentucky Derby it’s great to look for the hat first ‘cause that’s the accessory that you know, everyone is looking at,” Paris told Access Hollywood as she shopped for a fabulous head piece on Wednesday.

The merriment of the annual horse race, held every year at Churchill Downs, is amplified by the beautiful, colorful and always big hats women wear to the event. And Paris made sure she picked out her head piece before anything else.

“I’m gonna choose my hat before the dress because I think it’s great to get a couple of different options of what you like — pick a couple of hats that might look great. And then later on I’m having a fitting tomorrow for my dress and I’ll see how they look together,” Paris explained.

Paris’ experience at Churchill Downs will be enhanced not only by her colorful attire, but by the presence of her boyfriend’s family, all of whom will be in attendance.

“My boyfriend and I are going together with his entire family, so it’s going to be fun,” she said.

While shopping in Los Angeles yesterday, Paris was trailed by the paparazzi, and despite their packed presence, the heiress remained unfazed.

“The paparazzi are very crazy, but after dealing with it for so many years, you just get used to it,” she said. “But basically I see these guys from the moment I leave my house ‘til I go to bed at night — they’re following me all day long.”

But, she admits some of them occasionally get out of hand.

“You know, some of them have class, but some of them don’t,” Paris explained. “They get a little bit crazy sometimes, a little bit dangerous on the road.”

On Friday, the day before the Derby, Access Hollywood‘s own Nancy O’Dell will co-host “Ladies First: Bravo at the Kentucky Derby,” a one-hour live special on the history, fashion and festivities before and after the Kentucky Oaks race. The special airs at 5 PM. Nancy will also be taking the red carpet on Saturday to welcome arrivals before the race.
