Paula Deen Thanks Food Network After Firing

Following the Food Network’s announcement on Friday that they have chosen not to renew Paula Deen’s contract in the wake of her racial slur revelation, the chef issued a statement thanking the network for 11 “great years.”

“I have had the pleasure of being allowed into so many homes across the country and meeting people who have shared with me the most touching and personal stories,” Paula said in a statement to CNN Friday evening. “This would not have been possible without the Food Network.”

Adding, “Thank you again. Love and best dishes to all of y’all.”

On Friday afternoon, following a dizzying day for Deen – which included skipping out on a scheduled interview with Matt Lauer on the “Today” show and the release of two apology videos – the Food Network issued a statement stating they had chosen not to renew Deen’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of June.

The Southern chef is currently featured on three shows on the network.

Food Network also airs two shows starring Deen’s sons (“Not My Mama’s Meals” with Bobby Deen on the Cooking Channel and “Home for Dinner” with Jamie Deen on the Food Network). Neither show will be affected by their mother’s firing, according to People.
