Perrie Edwards Says Zayn Malik Broke Off Their Engagement With ‘A Simple Text’

Perrie
Edwards has shed new light on her and Zayn Malik’s broken engagement.

The
Little Mix singer and former One Direction member split last year, and Perrie
appears to have addressed their breakup in the girl group’s upcoming
autobiography, “Our World.”

According
to a screenshot of the book tweeted from a Little Mix fan account on Sunday,
Perrie called the “horrible” split “the worst time of her
life,” claiming Zayn ended things less personally than she would have
liked.

“A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by
a simple text message. Just like that,” Perrie reportedly wrote.

In the tweeted excerpt, which
doesn’t mention Zayn by name, Perrie cited her “difficult”
time processing the breakup despite her career success, adding that her Little
Mix bandmates “were amazing” in their support.

“We’d have sleepovers and they’d get my favorite
desserts and do everything could to cheer me up,” the passage continued.

Zayn had previously denied the text message rumor, telling
Fader magazine last year that he “would never” have called off his
and Perrie’s relationship that way out of “respect” for her.

“I love her a lot, and I always will,” he told the mag at the time.

Adding, “I don’t want to
explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do
that.”

“Our World”
doesn’t seem to be Perrie’s only outlet. On Sunday’s “X Factor UK,” Little
Mix performed
their new single “Shout Out To My Ex,” which contains lyrics many
fans interpreted as being targeted at Zayn.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1‘s Nick
Grimshaw on Monday, Perrie said the song “speaks for itself.”

Little Mix’s new album
“Glory Days” drops on Nov. 18. “Our World” is set for
release on Oct. 20.

Zayn’s own self-titled
autobiography hits shelves on Nov. 1.
