Peta2 Brand Mary-Kate & Ashley The ‘Trollsen Twins’

Peta2 have branded Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen the “Trollsen Twins” for wearing fur and using it in their clothing line.

Peta2, a youth-targeted off shoot of animal rights group PETA, planned to launch their “Trollsen Twins” campaign on Tuesday in Los Angeles, to make people aware of the usage of fur by the twentysomething twins.

On Tuesday, the organization planned to unveil, on the twins’ Hollywood Walk of Fame star, “two hideous images of fur – Mary-Kate and Ashley themselves – the most unflattering photo of the two fur fiends that peta2 could find,” the group said in a statement.

The organization has also launched a Web site to draw attention to the issue offering themed anti-fur games including “Full House of Horrors,” a take off on the series “Full House,” which the twins rose to fame on in the ‘90s.

“No one would argue that Mary-Kate and Ashley could use some meat on their bones, but the last thing they need is hair on their backs—especially when it belongs to someone else,” peta2 Assistant Director of Youth Campaigns Dan Shannon said in a statement. “These two are a couple of real lightweights when it comes to both taste and compassion.”

A rep for the Olsens had no comment about the campaign.
