Pete Wentz Responds To Ashlee Simpson’s Divorce Filing; Asks For Joint Custody Of Bronx

Pete Wentz has responded in court to his estranged wife’s divorce filing with one of his own, asking a court award the divorcing couple joint custody of their 2-year-old son, Bronx Mowgli.

Wentz, who cited irreconcilable difference as reason for his split from Ashlee Simpson, checked off the box asking for joint legal and physical custody of the toddler.

Simpson, in her filing of last month had also cited irreconcilable differences and asked for joint legal custody, but asked for her to be awarded primary physical custody of their son, with Wentz only being given visitation. She also asked for spousal support, for Wentz to pay her attorney fees and for a judge to return her legal name to Ashlee Nicole Simpson.

In Wentz’s divorce petition response, he asked a judge to order both parties to pay their own attorneys fees. He did not ask for spousal support or ask the court award Simpson spousal support.

Simpson – a musician and actress – and Wentz – who gained fame as a member of Fall Out Boy and has also worked as a successful music producer – tied the knot in a private ceremony held at the Simpson family home in Encino, Calif., back in 2008.

The bride’s father, Joe Simpson, reportedly married the couple, while her big sister, Jessica Simpson, served as maid of honor.

In October 2009, Wentz opened up to People magazine about the couple’s plans for more kids.

“Everything is awesome about being a dad,” he told the mag at the time. “Eventually we want to be able to have a soccer team.”
