Phillip Phillips To Undergo Kidney Surgery Next Week (Report)

He was crowned winner of “American Idol” this week, and now, Phillip Phillips has some medical business to attend to.

The 21–year-old singer will undergo kidney surgery on Tuesday afternoon, according to TMZ.

Following the much-needed operation, the Season 11 winner will recuperate at a Malibu mansion owned by a member of the “Idol” production team, the website reported.

The “Idol’s” recovery could take up to six weeks, per TMZ.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the singer recently revealed he’s been battling kidney stones for about a year and that a stent was put in around the time the live performances started on Season 11 of “Idol.”

“I have to get all that fixed and what not,” Phillip told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman, who was exclusive with the star as he traveled to Access on Thursday.

The young man admitted he was in a little bit of pain from kidney stones during the two-night finale on FOX, but the night of his win, “was actually, a really good day,” he said.
