Pickin’ And Grinnin’: Gwyneth Paltrow Talks ‘Country Strong’ At Nashville World Premiere

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow learned to play guitar and immersed herself in country music to pull off her latest role.

Paltrow told The Associated Press at the world premiere of “Country Strong” on Monday in Nashville, Tenn., that she wanted her portrayal of a superstar singer to be as authentic as possible.

The actress says she relied on concert DVDs and YouTube clips of country stars to help her with her role. She relied on advice from girlfiends who are singers more than husband Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay.

Paltrow plays a singer fresh out of rehab who’s trying to pull her life, her career and her marriage together in “Country Strong,” which opens nationwide on Jan. 7. The film also stars Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund.
