Authorities have determined that Shia LaBeouf was not at fault for his crash early Sunday morning in Los Angeles.
“We have strong evidence the other party ran a red light,” Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told Access Hollywood.
The other vehicle involved the collision with the actor’s green Ford truck is now being listed as “Party 1” on the still unreleased accident report, according to Whitmore.
A male and female were in the vehicle, which LaBeouf’s truck collided with as the actor attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of Fountain and La Brea in Hollywood around 2:24 AM on Sunday, causing LaBeouf’s vehicle to flip.
The other parties have not yet been identified, however, Whitmore said they will also be cited.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a witness claims to have overheard the male from the other vehicle involved in the collision suggest to LaBeouf that he flee the scene of the accident.
“The guy Shia hit told him, ‘You should get outta here,’ and ‘I never saw you.’ He said, ‘I never saw you,’” Brian Perrulli, a passerby who arrived at the accident scene after the collision had taken place, told Access. “Shia said, ‘No, man, I gotta stay here and deal with this. It’s my problem.”
According to a report in Us Weekly, LaBeouf was partying and drinking at a concert at the Troubadour venue in Los Angeles, prior to the incident. He was accompanied by his “Transformers 2” co-star, Isabel Lucas, who has been romantically linked to “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier.
LaBeouf, Lucas and the unidentified female from the other vehicle involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital by ambulance following the crash.
Lucas and the other woman were released, but LaBeouf was forced to undergo surgery to his left hand.
As of Monday, he was recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His mother told E! News he was “doing fine” following the procedure.
Despite the crash and LaBeouf’s surgery, no delays are expected to the release date of “Transformers 2,” reps for the studio confirmed to Access.
In related news, LaBeouf’s booking sheet was released by authorities on Monday. He had previously been cited, arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and released, while at the hospital following the crash.
The actor was listed as 5’10” and 199 pounds. His arrest at the hospital occurred at 5 AM, thirty minutes before he was prepped for surgery. The actor was cited with a misdemeanor and posted $250 bond.
