Pop Singer Lily Allen’s US Work Visa Revoked

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 8, 2007) – Pop singer Lily Allen, daughter of BBC America “Robin Hood” star Keith Allen had her visa revoked on Sunday.

The “Smile” singer, had arrived stateside for a string of dates when she was stopped by immigration officials at LAX airport.Allen was questioned by authorities.

“Subsequent to this meeting, the authorities decided to revoke her American 01 work visa,” Allen’s stateside record label Capitol, confirmed.

“[Lily] has no idea why she was singled out for such treatment and found the whole experience distressing,” a label source said.

Allen was allowed in the country, but it appears it is just on a tourist visa. She is currently holed up in a Los Angeles are hotel.

The singer will return to her native England, later this week.

At present Allen’s tour dates in September are on, provided the US authorities give her a new work permit.

“I am trying everything I can to sort this situation out,” a disappointed Lily said in a statement. “It is my intention to play my American dates in September. This depends on the authorities granting me a new work visa. I want my fans to know that I will do everything I can to be back in America in September. I don’t like letting my fans down and this is a situation that I am sure we can sort”.

Allen was arrested in London earlier this summer, for a prior altercation when she allegedly lunged at a paparazzi photographer who was attempting to take her picture.
