In the Hollywood trend of everything old can be new again, TV’s “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” is headed to the big screen.
Lionsgate and Saban announced plans to develop a franchise based on the massively successful ‘90s kids series.
“The new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world,” Lionsgate said in statement on Wednesday.

Saban said Lionsgate (the studio that brought us “The Huger Games,” “The Twilight Saga” and “Divergent”) plans on “elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level.”
Cast, director, screenwriter and a release date for the planned big screen “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” reboot have not been announced.
The “Rangers” reboot comes on the heels of news of a “Jem and The Holograms” movie.
