‘Powers’: How Will The Characters Be Affected By Retro Girl’s Death?

PlayStation’s “Powers” ended Season 1 with a big
mystery – who killed Retro Girl?

While the Powers Division will work on solving the case as
Season 2 opens, the death of the beloved character will hit those that knew her
best, like Sharlto Copley’s Christian Walker, hard, according to Susan Heyward, who plays Walker’s partner, Deena Pilgrim.

“Without Retro Girl, Walker’s – he’s  kind of
lost, can’t find his way in life and I think he finds himself needing Deena
both professional and maybe a little bit personally, to find his footing
again,” Susan told reporters on a set visit last year. “So it’s about these two
puzzle pieces trying to find a way to come together for a bigger cause.”

Walker might even need support from his boss, Captain Emile Cross (Adam Godley), too.

“Somebody he deeply cared about and had an incredible history with has gone,” Adam said. “It’s affected everybody in the
world of this show because she was keeping a lid on the bad guys and she’s not
there anymore so all bets are off.”

Without her idol, Calista (Olesya Rulin) will be a little lost as the new season begins on
May 31.

“Retro Girl, I think in Season 1, we touched base on
that she wasn’t just like the mom figure [to Calista]. She wasn’t just the placeholder for
Calista. She was hope. And even though Calista got disappointed with Retro
Girl’s behavior, and Retro Girl got mad at me and there was a little drama
there where she wasn’t exactly what I wanted her to be, ultimately Retro Girl
represents my childhood and my possibility and my I guess my last little spark
of innocence,” Olesya said.

“And so when that leaves, it’s a
catalyst, right? …  [If] it happens in real life, you either step up to
the plate and you grow up and you hopefully mature, or you don’t, where you
kind of fall into this pit of decisions and so I think it’s a little bit of all
of that,” she said of what her character is going through as the show returns.

Playstation’s “Powers” Season 2 premieres with the release of the first three episodes on May
31. New episodes stream Tuesdays on the platform.
