President Obama Joins Twitter, Snubs Cubs?

Do we detect some #POTUSTwitterSportsShade?

President Barack Obama is finally on Twitter and he’s already making headlines for it!

The President will now be Tweeting with the @POTUS handle. Of course, Obama has being Tweeting for years with the @BarackObama account (where he signed his posts with “-bo”), but now the office of the President will have a dedicated account.

“The Potus Twitter account will serve as a new way for President Obama to engage directly with the American people, with Tweets coming exclusively from him. President Obama is committed to making his Administration the most open and participatory in history, and @POTUS will give Americans a new venue to engage on the issues that matter most to them,” The White House said in a statement on Monday.

And Obama is already making headlines with his social media presence, but this time for who he’s not following.

The @POTUS account was quick to follow every single major Chicago sports team (@ChicagoBears, @ChicagoBlackhawks, @ChicagoBulls, and the @ChicagoWhiteSox), but the Chicago Cubs failed to get a follow… something they called the President out on.

Maybe the next incoming President will be more of a Cubs fan and the baseball team will get a follow in 2016!
