Prince William & Duchess Kate Welcome Baby Girl; Family ‘Doing Well’

The royal baby has arrived!

Prince William and Duchess Kate have welcomed a baby girl.

Kensington Palace announced the happy news on Twitter on Saturday, Tweeting, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34 AM.”

The Palace revealed that Kate, 33, traveled by car to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with William, 32, by her side early Saturday morning.

She was admitted to the hospital in the “early stages of labour” at 6 AM London time, and gave birth less than three hours later.

The princess –who is fourth in line to the throne – weighed in at 8 lbs., 3 oz.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” added the Palace.

A town crier, in full regalia, made the announcement to royal baby watchers posted outside St. Mary’s Hospital on Saturday.

A golden easel with the details of Kate’s delivery was placed in the forecourt at Buckingham Palace, much to the delight of hundreds of well-wishers gathered outside the gates.

The newborn princess’ name has yet to be revealed.

When William and Kate (who tied the knot in April 2011) welcomed their first child, Prince George, in July 2013, his name was announced two days after his birth.

Kate and William announced they were expecting their second child back in September 2014.

The Duchess suffered from severe morning sickness with both of her pregnancies.
