Queen Latifah Teams With Starbucks To Spread Environmental Message

Queen Latifah has an environmental tale to tell and she’s teamed up with the folks at Starbucks to help spread her message of going green.

On August 15, Starbucks will host a “National Day of Discussion: Solutions to Climate Change” at coffeehouses across the country to inspire talks about the need for climate change.

The “National Day of Discussion” is part of Starbucks efforts to generate conversation around the issues of climate change highlighted in the new family-friendly film “Arctic Tale,” which follows the real adventures of a walrus and polar bear as they struggle to adapt to the realities of a changing climate.

Queen Latifah, who narrates “Arctic Tale,” hopes the film will help send the “Go Green” message.

“I am someone who has been educated through this film and through other films and you know, information that I’ve got along the way. But I think it’s important to get the information to sort of re-educate,” she said. “I am someone who has been educated through this film and through other films and you know, information that I’ve got along the way. But I think it’s important to get the information to sort of re-educate.”

The film tells the story of a walrus pup and a polar bear on their life’s journey from birth to adolescence to maturity and parenthood in the frozen Arctic wilderness.

“You’re getting to see something you probably would not normally see, it’s being personalized, it’s telling a story of these two animals and their journey through life and it’s also talking about how the climate change is affecting that life and it’s really a good story,” Latifah added.

Starbucks coffeehouses in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle and Washington D.C. are just a few of the locations participating in the “National Day of Discussion.”
