Rainn Wilson Talks ‘Office’ Spinoff: ‘It Could Be Pretty Cool’

Rainn Wilson could be taking “The Office’s” Dwight Schrute to the country for a spinoff to the popular NBC sitcom, and he’s a little excited.

“We started talking about it,” Rainn confirmed to Access Hollywood at Sunday’s SAG Awards red carpet. “It’s a pretty good idea, but it’s a long way from happening, but it could be pretty cool.”

Or could it?

“Actually, now that I think about it spinoffs never work, so it’s never happening,” he joked.

According to a report last week on Deadline, NBC is looking into an “Office” spinoff for midseason 2013.

The show would likely center around the Schrute family beet farm and bed and breakfast, Deadline reported.

When asked about the spinoff at the SAGs, former “Office” boss Steve Carell, said he was happy for his former co-worker.

“I heard… I have not talked to Rainn about it, but I heard the same thing. That’s exciting,” he told Access.
