Ralph Lauren Model Fired For Being A Size 4?

The model at the center of an advertising photo editing controversy last week has claimed she was fired for being a size 4.

At 5’ 10” and 120 pounds, 23-year-old model Filippa Hamilton claims her weight was behind Ralph Lauren terminating her contract earlier this year.

“Had they told you before they wanted you to lose weight?” Acccess Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson asked Filippa on Wednesday morning.

“No,” Filippa said. “It makes me sad. It makes me think Ralph Lauren wants to have this kind of image.”

Filippa claims she was terminated in April, six months before the abnormally thin Photoshopped advertisement published by the fashion house surfaced online.

On Wednesday, a rep for Ralph Lauren told Access in a statement that Filippa was terminated for her “inability to meet the obligations under her contract,” and not her weight.

However, the French bombshell maintains her agent was sent a letter noting she didn’t fit into the sample clothes she needed to wear.

But Filippa told Access she “could fit into [the] clothes” and that she was a “size 2-4.”

“So there were never any discussions with you, nobody ever said to your agent you weren’t fitting into the clothes?” Shaun asked.

“No, it came out of the blue,” Filippa added.

She also said she was dedicated to the job.

“I was always very loyal and on time,” she said of her work ethic. “I was very nice.”

Filippa maintains her weight never fluxuated during her eight years with Ralph Lauren and she was horrified and angry after seeing the image that surfaced last week, portraying her head as wider than her waist.

“It’s not a good example when you see this picture,” she said. “Young women are going to look at it and think it’s normal to look like that and it’s not.

“The message is more about being healthy and it’s not entirely Ralph Lauren’s fault,” she continued. “I think it’s more the industry’s fault to promote skinny girls. So my goal now is to promote healthy girls.”
