Reese Witherspoon Shares Her ‘Legally Blonde’ Sequel Ideas: Where Is Elle Woods Now?

Reese
Witherspoon isn’t ready for Elle Woods’ story to end.

The
“Big Little Lies” star joined host James Corden on “The Late
Late Show” Wednesday night, where the two discussed a possible
“Legally Blonde” follow-up. When asked if she was willing to reprise
her iconic role as the sunny, Harvard-educated lawyer from the 2001 and 2003
films, Reese said she’d love to know where the character ended up.

“I
would! I think it would be kind of cool to see her 15 years later. What’s she doing now?” Reese
said.

While fellow “Late Late Show” guest Tony Goldwyn suggested that Elle could have found herself in a White House position similar to President Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, James had even loftier hopes.

“She could be the first female President of the United States,” he offered.

“She could,” Reese agreed, before sharing other possibilities, including a position on the Supreme Court.

But, she’s also open for taking a darker turn.

“Or, she could be in prison,” the Oscar winner joked. “She could be anything!”

While no formal plans for another sequel have taken shape, Reese may already have a returning co-star lined up. James told the actress that her “Legally Blonde” love interest, Luke Wilson, had said he was game to join a new installment in the franchise.

Reese suggested playfully that she and James could just take on an impromptu revival themselves instead, but teased that the duo faces a potential casting problem.

“But which one of us plays Elle Woods?” Reese joked.

“I think we all know,” James – who portrayed Belle in a fun riff on “Beauty and the Beast” minutes earlier – replied with a smirk.
