Rene Russo’s Journey From The Big Screen To The Farm & Back Again In ‘Thor’

Rene Russo returns to the big screen this Friday in Marvel’s “Thor” after taking a six-year break from the spotlight.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actress, who is playing Thor’s mother, Frigga, in the Kenneth Branagh-directed movie, on the red carpet at the premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where the 57-year-old beauty explained that her talented and good-looking co-stars made going back to work a delight.

“I think Anthony Hopkins, I’d worked with him before, he’s so incredible. I love him,” she said of the Oscar winner, who plays Thor’s father, Odin.

“Thor” star Chris Hemsworth’s chiseled body and face also helped the actress get revved up for her return.

“Chris is awesome,” the actress said. “I could have grabbed him a couple of times, Anthony was hot, they were all hot! They were all good. I’ve got to tell you, we had a room full of cute boys.”

The star, who was last seen in 2005’s “Yours, Mine and Ours,” was also excited to try something new.

“It was different too — English accent, playing a queen. That was something I’d never done. So, that was kind of fun,” she added.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, during her big screen downtime, Rene got down and dirty on a farm working with cows. The actress helped launch products (including cheese and yogurt) with Blue Hill Farm’s White Cow Dairy in Buffalo, N.Y.

During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the former “Get Shorty” star said her daughter inspired get to get back into the game and out of the cow patties.

“My daughter, one day, made me feel like a complete loser,” the actress recalled. “She said, ‘Mom, get a job!’ I did truly feel like, ‘Well, maybe I should get a job!’ So finally I said, ‘OK, I’ll get a job.’”

And is Rene ready for more “Thor” should it turn into a franchise?

“Yeah,” she told Access with a smile. “I think they’re going to do a few.”
